‘Night and Day’ An exhibition of new paintings by Padraig McCaul
The Doorway Gallery is delighted to host an exhibition by Padraig McCaul, entitled, ‘Night & Day’. The exhibition will be hanging on our gallery walls in our gallery on South Frederick Street.
There is a change to the format of the solo show this year as we are keeping in compliance with COVID regulations, for the safety, and well-being of our artists and customers.
Instead of the traditional solo shows we have hosted throughout the years, we are running a new 'Meet and Greet' format for our customers. You will get the opportunity to speak individually with the Artist, Padraig McCaul, along with a limited number of friends or family. Groups of three or four can book a slot
for the 'Meet and Greet' for a limited time of 15mins.
‘Night and Day’ features new work created during the past 18 months and as such is a reflection of the varying moods, light and dark, drawn from the experiences of a challenging year.
Using familiar themes of West of Ireland cottages and old farmhouses, and his signature figurative work, each painting is filled with an abundance of colour and life. Outward looking, bright, open landscapes are contrasted with more personal, inward looking figurative pieces. Each piece drenched in the rich colours of the west of Ireland, from the dark tones and hues of the autumn and winter bogs to the earthy greens and warm summer yellows and reds, all reflected in the unique western skies.
Some of the work will be seen in an upcoming edition of the TV programme RTE Nationwide, which was recorded in June with Anne Cassin and which features an interview with Padraig in his studio and working environment on Achill Island.
Padraig McCaul is a full time artist originally from Dublin and now based on Achill Island, where he lives with his wife Anne and three children. His work is widely collected both internationally and at home.
