CONTEMPORARY IRISH ARTIST
“Art lurks in the obscure parts of one’s inner mind” Ai Wei Wei
Debbie Chapman is an Irish artist working from a studio in West Dublin. She creates contemporary paintings remaining fluid and versatile in approach. She explores different media such as oil, acrylics and hints of collage. Her practice is predominantly, figuratively based, even in it’s abstraction. Organic shapes and brilliant blocks of colour often collaborate with realism, creating an exciting yet harmonious balance.
"Like each and every one of us, I undergo continual transformation. I welcome these shifts rather than holding fast to familiar knowledge as I believe this fosters greater intellectual and creative adaptability.
My paintings are an attempt to make sense of a few intersecting themes; what it is to be human, the great fictions we create and the impact we have on each other and of course, our wonderful, wonderful planet. Behind all of the work is the persistent effort to refine better techniques, through painting, to convey my observations and create a visual dialogue that invites contemplation and introspection." Debbie Chapman
Venue: The Doorway Gallery, 25 South Frederick Street, Dublin 2.
Debbie will be in the gallery on Tuesday 7th, Thursday 9th & Saturday 11th so pop in and say 'hi' to her!
The Exhibition will be on show from November 6th - 11th
