The Doorway Gallery is delighted to host an exhibition by Angela Morgan titled ‘Setting the Scene’ on Thursday, April 5th between 6-7.30pm on 24 South Frederick Street. The Canadian ambassador, Kevin Vickers will be officially opening the exhibition on the night.

Angela Morgan lives and works in Fernie, B.C. The completion of her Bachelor in fine arts degree (BFA) in April of 2000 ended a ten year stretch of university education. Angela attended Bismarck State College in North Dakota, Concordia University in Montreal, University of Regina, and finally the University of Calgary.

Angela Morgan’s work celebrates humanity through the use of colour, pattern, and line. Her human figures express the poses of life; the jubilation of dance, the contemplation of parenthood, and the melancholy of summer’s end.  Colours fuse and meld to achieve gesture, transforming abstract images into living moments.

Angela is represented in galleries across Canada, Widen, Switzerland and Dublin, Ireland.  Locally, Angela can be found at her working studio in historic downtown Fernie. This is Angela’s second solo show with The Doorway Gallery.

“I think that while paintings these images I have been envisioning how we "set the scene" in our everyday life. Attention to detail and creating magic moments around celebrations and milestones.

I love the use of the word "scene" - haven't we all caused a scene at one time in our life - perhaps a bit dramatic and expressive...what is over the top anyways!

These paintings are an expression of the life we create - the colour we add to our days, the connections we nurture with our loved ones, the places we dance and frolick in! Angela Morgan
