When All Roads Lead Home

An exhibition of new paintings by Padraig McCaul

July 28th – August 25th

The Doorway Gallery, 24 South Frederick St, Dublin 2.

The Doorway Gallery is delighted to host an exhibition by Padraig McCaul titled ‘When all roads lead home’ on Thursday, July 28th between 6-7.30pm on 24 South Frederick Street.

‘When All Roads Lead Home' features twenty five new paintings by Dublin born artist Padraig McCaul, which are  inspired by the beauty of the landscape and coastline of Ireland's west coast. McCaul presents the Irish landscape in a series of colour filled, evocative images, where broad strokes are preferred to fine detail and where simple, uncluttered compositions allow room for the viewer to get lost in the painting. Houses, roads, farm buildings, country lanes, all feature strongly in this latest exhibition.

McCaul's paintings are inspired by the untamed landscapes and coastline of Ireland's wild Atlantic way. He works with oil on canvas, using a single palette knife and brush to create his semi-abstract, colour filled paintings. Since moving to Achill with his family in 2010, McCaul's evocative paintings of the west of Ireland have continued to evolve and now include more figurative work, sometimes based on, but always inspired by his own family.  McCaul's work is due to feature prominently in an upcoming nationwide marketing campaign for Eircode this summer.

Padraig McCaul is a full time artist, originally from Dublin and now based on Achill Island, where he lives with his wife Anne and three children. His work is  widely collected both internationally and at home.
