The strongest mental image most people have of an island environment is its coastal perimeter but obviously there's a lot more to see on them especially on the larger islands. Achill is the largest island in the country and has an extensive bog covering its interior. This painting is a view looking across the bog to the late dawn of winter and the soft muted colours the hazy sun cast across the landscape.
