My trip to Clare Island was another off -season trip which meant that the place was relatively empty of tourists. I stayed at the lighthouse at the far northern tip of the Island which had been turned into guest accommodation. This painting was done 'en plein air' (from life) looking out at the view from inside the cap of the lighthouse itself looking out over to Achill and Achilbeg Islands. A perfect location to paint sheltered from the squally showers that came and went and giving a fantastic view perched high above the precipitous cliffs.
