  • "Another change when the circus came, was the amount of rigging that went up in a warehouse with a higher ceiling. So too, were the many mattresses amassed underneath, so as to prevent injury somehow perhaps. I had recently cleared this particular warehouse, sorting the objects seen along the walls. This act led to my being sent to the Secret Irish Underground Piano-bar at Glastonbury music festical, of which I am currently painting some scenes. Furthermore this experience has altered the course of my life somewhat dramatically; the placement of those objects seen lined up against the walls. At the rail along the ground, running the floor between the opening in the warehouse wall, is the same seen in the backround of ‘when the circus came’, the diablo being just inside. Because of the slant in the ground this warehouse had been dubbed ‘slopey warehouse’. Through the opening in the warehouse wall can be seen the next opening into the larger warehouse." David Ryan
