Exploring the ramshackle buildings and sheds around West town really feels like a step back in time. There are no driveways, cobble lock, garden boundaries but just this sprawling collection of walls, chickens, rubbish, small vegetable plots, derelict and inhabited houses and sheds. While also trying to get some sense of the place a lot of my focus and energy is on the more formal and abstract qualities of art making - things like interlocking shapes, overlapping objects, contrasts and colour harmonies.
