Joanne Behan is a sculptor based in Clones Art Studio in County Monaghan. Her
work is predominantly bronze figurative. She graduated with a BA in sculpture from
Crawford College of Art in 1997. She enjoys the plasticity of working in clay and wax,
creating figures that are caught in a moment and designed for a particular space.
Joanne loves to fine tune her observational skills with life drawing and modelling
figures and three dimensionsal portraits directly from a life model. In her fragmented
torso series, she experiments with form, shape and negative spaces which are
landscape like in appearance. She explores a variety of mediums in her work such
as bronze, ceramics and glass. Most of her artworks are one off pieces or unique
editions. Joanne exhibits her smaller sculptures and the larger pieces are
commissioned based. Her work is in private and public collections
