I am essentially a self taught artist, having given up art shortly after leaving school, to study sciences.
I studied science at U.C.D for 6 years obtaining a BAgr.Sc (Engineering Technology) and an M.Sc (Environmental Resource Management).
In 2001, as a birthday gift for my Mother, I started a painting of some Geese called “Gertrude and Friends”. Creating this painting reminded me how much I actually loved to paint, and as a result I now paint as often as I can, and spend a lot of time in the field observing, sketching and photographing wildlife and their habitats.
I like to paint all kinds of animals, wild and domestic, but I particularly like painting tropical birds.
All of my paintings are in acrylic on gallery quality fine linen canvas.
One of my paintings “Sun Parakeets”, was shortlisted by the Royal Ulster Academy in 2019.
